Supporting the AWE conference

Not so long ago, I was placed in contact with Runaway Juno by my friend Peggy (from Taking to the open road). For those of you who have heard of Juno you would know she is a well known travel blogger and especially so in Asia and a great role model for the Asian travel bloggers. So when she shared her idea of setting up the first Asian Women’s Empowerment conference, I immediately jumped on board.

“I want to encourage women to take charge of their lives, follow their hearts and passion, in spite of social norms. Moreover, I want them to be supported and prepared to deal with societal reaction, and know the challenges they will face” – Runaway Juno

The Asian Empowerment Conference will be held on the 8th-10th November in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It’ll be the first of its kind that I know of in Malaysia. Helmed mostly by travel bloggers, its a way to show and inspire how you can (it’s actually possible!) to live following your dreams. Topics covered would include how to initiate a social movement, how to use social media effectively, and of course being a Glamourous Traveller and why it’s important.

Yours truly has also been invited to speak at this conference! and I am very much excited to be doing so. However, to help set up this conference, we would need to get your help as well.

“Our goal is to raise $5,000 USD for six weeks. Your money goes directly to cover the expenses of the conference. We need an auditorium, meeting room, and digital equipment for the presentations. We also intend to pay the expenses of the inspirational speakers and staff who have set their heart in making this organization come to life.”

So if you are in the area around this time, it would be great to see you at the conference (Registration at USD 35 for early birds). Or if you won’t be able to make it and would still like to support us, donations would be greatly appreciated (minimum USD20). Scroll down the bottom to donate – here.

I really believe in it, and especially as someone who left the comfort of a corporate job, I understand how difficult it could be for a lot of people. So any support, any donation, any sponsorship would be greatly appreciated. And I will give you a giant virtual hug if you do it and let me know (leave a comment!) as well.

Hope to see you there! and for those who won’t be able to make it, any questions in particular you would like for me to answer?
